Stonington Partners is a New York based private equity firm with more than $1 billion of capital under management on behalf of public and corporate pension funds, private endowments and other financial institutions. Stonington Partners was formed in 1994 out of a desire of its Partners to establish an independent entity following a decade of managing the investment activities of Merrill Lynch Capital Partners, Inc. (MLCP), which had $1.6 billion of equity capital under management. Stonington focuses on identifying attractive investments in middle market companies with values between $50 million and $500 million. Stonington typically invests from $25 million to $150 million of equity per company either at the initial acquisition, or over time through add-on investments. While receptive to opportunities in across industries, Stonington focuses on sectors in which its team has proven expertise. Stonington’s investment professionals have over 90 years of cumulative private equity experience that were gained through Stonington Partners and their prior affiliation with MLCP.
